Curtis Nelson joined MK Dons on 15 January 2026 from Championship side Derby County, reuniting with manager Paul Warne, under whom he had previously helped Derby win promotion from League One. The experienced centre-back arrived with almost 600 professional appearances across the EFL.

Nelson made his Dons debut in the 2–0 win at Accrington Stanley on 17 January 2026 and quickly became an important part of the defence. He scored his first MK Dons goal in the 3–2 victory at Cheltenham Town on 7 February, and finished the campaign with 18 League Two appearances, two goals and one assist.
