Charlie Setford joined MK Dons on loan from Ajax on 2 February 2026, for the remainder of the 2025–26 season. The goalkeeper arrived with considerable experience despite his young age, having developed through the Ajax academy and represented England and the Netherlands at youth level.

Setford had made history at Ajax by becoming the youngest goalkeeper to play for Jong Ajax, making his debut aged 17 in August 2021. He had also regularly trained with and been involved around Ajax's senior squad.

However, his spell at MK Dons was primarily as goalkeeping cover, with Craig MacGillivray and Connal Trueman ahead of him. Setford did not make a first-team appearance for the Dons before the end of the 2025–26 campaign.
