Graham Alexander was appointed MK Dons head coach on 27 May 2023, following the club’s relegation to League Two. A former Scotland international and highly experienced manager, Alexander arrived at Stadium MK having previously enjoyed promotion success with Fleetwood Town and guided Motherwell to European qualification.

His time with the Dons began exceptionally well. MK Dons won four of their opening five league matches, putting them top of League Two, and Alexander was named EFL League Two Manager of the Month for August 2023.

However, the impressive start quickly faded. The Dons went on an eight-game league run without a victory, and Alexander was dismissed on 16 October 2023, having been in charge for just 16 matches. His record was six wins, four draws and six defeats in all competitions.
