Ben Gladwin joined MK Dons in January 2020 on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers, arriving after a difficult period with injuries. Manager Russell Martin had been impressed with Gladwin while he trained with the club, and the midfielder quickly became part of the Dons squad. 

His first spell was limited by the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, but he made nine League One appearances, scoring once. His goal came in a 2–0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers, giving supporters a glimpse of the quality he possessed. 

Despite initially being released at the end of the 2019–20 season, Gladwin was re-signed by the Dons in July 2020 after expressing his strong desire to remain at Stadium MK. He enjoyed a more substantial role during the 2020–21 campaign, making 26 League One appearances and scoring twice, as Martin's side finished 13th.

Gladwin was appointed caretaker manager in March 2025 following the sacking of Scott Lindsey.
