Craig MacGillivray joined MK Dons on a free transfer from Burton Albion in June 2023. The experienced Scottish goalkeeper made his debut in the memorable 5–3 victory away at Wrexham on the opening day of the 2023/24 season.

In his first season, MacGillivray made 24 League Two appearances, keeping six clean sheets, before spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Stevenage, where he played 11 league games. He returned to MK Dons in 2024 and subsequently established himself as an important part of the side.

His standout campaign came in 2025/26, when he made 45 league appearances, keeping 15 clean sheets, as MK Dons finished runners-up in League Two and secured promotion back to League One. He also set a club record in August 2025 by recording seven consecutive clean sheets.

As of the end of the 2025/26 season, MacGillivray had made 77 league appearances for MK Dons, playing a key role in the club's promotion campaign
