Karl Robinson was appointed MK Dons manager in May 2010 at just 29 years old, becoming the youngest manager in the Football League at the time. Having previously worked as Paul Ince’s assistant, Robinson quickly established himself as an ambitious young coach.

During his six-year spell, Robinson guided the Dons to several League One play-off campaigns before finally achieving promotion to the Championship in 2014–15. The Dons finished second with 91 points and over 100 goals, securing promotion on the final day with a memorable 5–1 victory over Yeovil Town.

That season also saw one of the biggest wins in the club’s history, a stunning 4–0 League Cup victory over Manchester United, while academy graduate Dele Alli emerged as one of the team’s key players.

Life in the Championship proved difficult, however, and MK Dons were relegated after just one season. Robinson remained in charge into the following League One campaign before leaving by mutual consent in October 2016, ending a six-year-and-five-month tenure.
